Face Surgery in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills - Face Lift, Rhinoplasty, Blepharoplasty, and More
At Century Aesthetics®, we perform a variety of facial procedures for patients in Beverly Hills and the Los Angeles area. Our procedures include:
Face Lift (Rhytidectomy) and “Near Face Lift”
Sun exposure, weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process can make skin loosen and sag, resulting in wrinkles and jowls. The muscles on the neck can slacken, too, causing you to look years older than you are. Face lift is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the face and neck, creating a more youthful appearance. Fresh, taut skin can make you look decades younger!
During face lift surgery, incisions are first made along the hairline, by the ear, and around the earlobe. The facial tissues are detached and excess skin is removed. The underlying soft tissues are suspended, repositioned and restructured. The remaining skin is smoothed and tightened. The procedure may take three to five hours at our Los Angeles office, near Beverly Hills. Side effects of face lift surgery include temporary swelling, numbness, bruising, and tightness, but most patients report little pain and only minor discomfort.
In conjunction with face lift, the cheeks, chin and lips can be selectively augmented according to each patient’s individual needs. The result is a rejuvenated appearance.
Many of our patients from Beverly Hills and Los Angeles request a full face lift, but we often recommend less invasive approaches, which still result in significant rejuvenation and an improved facial appearance. Dr. Fodor’s initial evaluation and analysis of your face will help you determine whether you would benefit from what he calls a “near facelift” approach. A near face lift can delay the need for a full face lift for as long as a decade.

Endoscopic Facial Cosmetic Surgery
Dr. Fodor is one of a few surgeons who pioneered this state-of-the art approach to facial rejuvenation. Through the use of endoscopy at our Los Angeles practice can perform forehead lifts, mid face lifts, complete face lifts and other aesthetic plastic surgery procedures without leaving visible scars. These procedures are typically less invasive than their traditional counterparts. As a result, there is usually less postoperative swelling and bruising.
The technology applied in endoscopic procedures is similar to that used for years in other types of surgeries such as arthroscopic knee surgery. Tiny incisions are made in remote, hidden areas such as the hair-bearing scalp. A "scope" (a periscope-like tubular probe fitted with a tiny camera and bright light) is then inserted at the point of incision and used along with other instruments to assist in the operation. The surgeon can view the progress of the procedure on a T.V. monitor. While most patients can undergo endoscopic surgeries, not everyone is a good candidate.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
The purpose of cosmetic eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is to eliminate drooping upper eyelids or puffy bags that have developed beneath the eyelids. It is usually performed on an outpatient basis and typically takes about an hour and a half at our Los Angeles office, close to Beverly Hills. While the purpose of blepharoplasty is to make you look as good as possible, it cannot perform miracles.
Surgical results from cosmetic eyelid surgery are more predictable in some patients than in others. Some of the factors that allow a plastic surgeon to determine the outcome of blepharoplasty include physical condition of the face, thickness and condition of the skin, presence or absence of facial fat, the relative "age" of a patient's skin, the number and type of wrinkles present, underlying bone structure, heredity and hormonal influences. In addition to these preoperative factors, it is important for all patients to have realistic goals and expectations.

Rhinoplasty (Nasal Reshaping)
Like other cosmetic surgeries, nasal reshaping is a combination of art and science. Because surgery is not an exact science, some of the factors involved in producing the final results are not within the control of the surgeon. Other aspects, however, help the surgeon predict whether or not you are a good candidate. These include thickness and shape of the nasal bones and cartilage, the shape of the face, heredity, age, and thickness and condition of the nasal skin. The skin is especially important with nasal surgery because thick skin precludes the creation of a delicate nasal tip.
The nose is one of the main balancing features of the face. Therefore, during a consultation at our Los Angeles clinic, we recommend patients consider rhinoplasty in conjunction with other plastic surgery procedures, when appropriate. For example, the chin is often augmented or altered along with the nose, particularly if it is recessed or small in size.
We perform a thorough pre-operative examination at our Los Angeles office, near Beverly Hills. Before we can recommend rhinoplasty surgery, we must properly understand the structure of your face.

Lip Augmentation
Some individuals are born with thin lips. In addition, as we age lips get thinner, “prune lines” form, and the allure of a youthful smile disappears. In the past, this was irreversible. Today, procedures that have come about recently have remedied this situation. These include soft tissue implants, as well as collagen and other materials that can be injected into the lips to create a fuller look. Restylane®, a natural hyaluronic acid-based product, offers another option for augmentation of the lips. Dr. Fodor is a member of a board of consultants tasked to design instructional courses for injectables.
Though the transfer of one's own fatty tissues shows some promise, neither this nor collagen injections have succeeded in providing permanent results. However, another technique, dermal-fat grafts, has shown more success. Dermal-fat grafts have been used for many years in reconstructive surgery to rebuild burned lips. Utilized for cosmetic surgical purposes by Dr. Fodor, they have been equally successful in providing longer lasting, and sometimes permanent, results. In some instances, tissues that are ordinarily discarded during an operation such as a face lift can be used for the graft. In other cases, the graft is obtained from an inconspicuous donor site such as the breast fold (during breast augmentation), the buttock fold, or the nape of the neck's non-hairy area. Gore-Tex, a synthetic substance, can also provide a permanent result.
At our Los Angeles office near Beverly Hills, we offer a variety of lip augmentation procedures. We even perform lip augmentation in conjunction with other procedures such as breast augmentation, cosmetic eyelid surgery, nasal surgery or facelift.

Buccal Fat Pad Removal
This procedure seeks to give the face a more angular and chiseled look by reducing the size of the buccal fat pad normally located in the cheeks. Buccal fat pad removal is performed through a small incision inside the cheeks that leaves no visible scar. Postoperative swelling and bruising is practically nonexistent. Buccal fat pad removal results in a more contoured facial appearance.

Correction of Sagging Neck (neck lift cervical tautening)
A neck lift can have a profound effect on appearance. Dr. Fodor begins this procedure by making incisions behind a patient's ears to remove saggy, excess skin. The remaining skin is then moved up and back towards the scalp, leaving a well-hidden, inconspicuous scar. During a neck lift Dr. Fodor can also tighten the muscles below the chin by placing a suture in the neck crease. In addition, liposuction of the fat below the skin can give the neck a more youthful and natural appearance. The result is an aesthetically rejuvenated neck.

Correction of Protruding Ears (Otoplasty)
No facial feature invites teasing quite so frequently as unattractive ears. If your ears are too large, uneven, misshapen, or stick straight out from your head, you've probably experienced this form of cruelty. Thanks to a cosmetic surgery procedure called otoplasty, this problem can be surgically remedied.
Otoplasty begins with incisions being made behind the ear, where they are easily hidden in a natural crease. Dr. Fodor removes excess skin and sculpts the cartilage, reducing the size of the ears and repositioning them closer to the head. Permanent sutures may be placed in the cartilage to secure its new position and create natural-looking ear folds. Although young children usually receive general anesthesia, for adults the procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.
